Provenance: Collected by Capt Jack Pert, 1950’s, inventory number 0447; purchased from the Pert family 1990’s.
This mask comes from the Coastal Ramu River area of Madang Province. It was collected by Captain Jack Pert, in the 1950’s, and was later in the collection of Isabel Pert, it still has the inventory number on the back. While the patina is dry, there are still traces of pigments, and some of the decorative fiber is still present in the nose and ear piercings.
